Bill's Priorities
Our Economy
We are a visitor driven economy. We must proactively work with our resort partners to manage impacts of tourism better and elevate our offerings for visitors and residents alike - tourism pays for the majority of our city budget
Traffic and Transportation
Solutions that serve us today, tomorrow and well into the future though bold regional planning and locally focused action. We need to manage our capacity better for the benefit of the community and the environment
Economic/Budget Sustainability
Conduct a long range assessment of our fiscal future and implement operating budget strategies so that we spend only with our means. Tax bills have risen dramatically, this is not sustainable in the long run
Workforce/Essential Worker Housing
A coherent and strategic plan that maximizes our investment, impact, and doesn’t conflate need with demand - regional options should be part of the solution, with a focus on essential workers
Childcare Services
Supporting our essential worker needs with a child care benefit that pays for itself with reduced recruiting costs and higher employee retention
Arts and Culture
These cultural institutions and others have diversified the profile of Park City over the past several decades. We should support them in a way that allows them thrive and evolve. This support must be proportional to their impact on our economy, our community, and
our way of life
City Planning
Restructure our City Planning Department, fill vacant positions and streamline processes, jumpstart general plan update. In doing this we will improve public trust and confidence in this department, resulting in a more efficient and better working environment.
Recreation Amenities/Management
Address the philosophical difference between how we manage our assets and how we should manage our recreation assets. Enhance safety on trails for bikers and walkers
Our Natural Environment & Wildlife
Prioritizing the management of our open spaces/trailheads to reduce impact on residents, wildlife and the land
Sustainability
Seek tangible and impactful policy measures that the community can rally around which balances our robust tourism economy with the needs of our residents. We must do better
MY MISSION STATEMENT
Preserving Park City's Character
Park City is a special and unique place. Parkites should be proud of our community fabric and the standing we have as one of the best mountain towns in the country. With success comes challenges and we have been wrestling with them for two decades. It has caused friction between young and old, the well off and the less well off and those that choose to look forward and those that choose to look back. Our history is deeply important and imbues our community with a sense of character and place, but our future is in front of us. I believe that we must lean into our issues and face our challenges by proactively planning and shaping our future in ways that serve all of the people that make up this beautiful resort community. That will require difficult conversations, but just because they are difficult doesn’t mean we should avoid them or that we can’t finds answers through them. We can and we should. Great policy serves everyone and does not discriminate. We must collaborate around ideas more than we do identities. Park City is not like any other town, nor should it be. We should represent the best of what mountain living represents, after all, we are all Parkites.
